See what our previous winners got up to

Marc Rey, from France, was the winner of last year’s 2022 Lion Whisperer prize. It was always a dream of Marc’s to go on safari in Africa, and he decided to share the experience with his daughter Cassandra.

They had the most unforgettable time on safari at the Kruger National Park, including sundowners and dinner under the stars every evening! They also loved spending time with Kevin and the animals at the sanctuary. “Every minute of our trip was filled with amazing memories that will last a lifetime”

Marc is proof that if you do good, good comes back to you. Click here to see all of our previous winners.

ABOUT KEVIN RICHARDSON

The Kevin Richardson Foundation is a non-profit conservation organisation with nature’s most majestic creature, the lion, at its heart. Launched in early 2018 the foundation is committed to changing and reversing the state of Africa’s declining lion population by purchasing habitat and raising awareness to create safe, natural spaces where lions and other native species can flourish. By partnering with specialised organisations and engaging with impoverished communities on the fringes of these protected areas, the foundation also aims to minimise human/wildlife conflict whilst improving living conditions for local villages.

The Effect Your Donations Have

Your kindness and support helps with our partnership, education and land projects. Find out more here.

Partnerships

The Kevin Richardson Foundation believes strongly in collaboration with likeminded individuals. Conservation is a team effort and it is only through working together across multiple platforms that common goals will be reached.

The Foundation has partnered with various organisations during the past few years, ranging from research and science organisations, filmmakers and assisting other NGOs aim to preserve lion as a flagship species. To find out more about the Foundation’s partnerships, click here.

Education

Education forms a major part of the Kevin Richardson Foundation’s mandate, as they recognise the crucial role it plays in protecting the future of wildlife. The Foundation currently has two education programmes – one for international secondary and the other with their local communities at heart. The international education programme aims to spread awareness of the plight of lions through the youth, by giving them a voice and platform to become lion ambassadors. The local education programme is aimed at the communities on the outskirts of the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve, and educates children between the ages of 3 and 6 on wildlife and the value it holds.

Land

Land is one of the biggest reasons for the reduced numbers of wild lions in Africa, as less than 10% of their original habitat remains. With scientists predicting the extinction of lions in the wild by 2050, wildlife habitat remains a large priority for conservation of the species.
The Kevin Richardson Foundation claimed their first tract of land to protect in perpetuity in 2018, and are currently on the lookout for the next opportunity that arises.

Wildlife

The Foundation understands the holistic nature of conservation and is committed to rehabilitating and rewilding species, with an emphasis on predator cats. They also contribute to anti-poaching efforts in the neighbouring reserve to safeguard vulnerable wildlife populations and preserve biodiversity.
